Guyanese swimmer Ariel Rodrigues continued her dominant showing at the ASATT Invitational Meet in Trinidad and Tobago, capturing her third gold medal on Sunday with victory in the girls’ 100m backstroke.
Rodrigues touched the wall in a new national record time of 1minute 09.71 seconds, shaving nearly two seconds off the previous mark of 1 minute 11.49 seconds to secure the top spot on the podium.
The 100m backstroke triumph completed a remarkable hat-trick of gold medals for Rodrigues, following earlier wins in the 50m and 200m backstroke events. She also added a bronze medal to her tally in the 50m freestyle, clocking 27.88 seconds.
